Daily Face + Australis ACONTOUR Contour and Highlighting Kit Review

Left to Right
Revlon Photoready Highlights in 100 BARELIGHT, Clinique Even Better SPF Foundation in 03 Ivory, Clinique Superbalanced Makeup Tint Foundation in 05 Vanilla, AC ON TOUR Kit, Estee Lauder Foundation Brush
I bought this foundation on Carnival Cruises in January this year, and this is by far the best foundation I have used. I have combination skin and occasionally, really bad acne. This product is oil free but it stays on the skin for a long time and does not dry out in the cracks of your skin. The coverage is medium, so it's good for practical use. It feels oily when first applied due to its velvety texture but dries quite fast and allows second applications without caking. I believe I've only gone through half the bottle in 7 months so its definitely worth the $33 I paid for and I will be willing to pay $50 for it outside of duty free stores. Like all foundations however, do not apply it on peeling skin because it will wrap around peeling skin and make it look worse. I don't apply foundation on my nose as it makes the blackheads appear white. For occasions, I would apply a primer under this but it is unnecessary for daily applications.

This was another foundation that I bought on the cruise. It's a slightly lighter shade than the other one and the coverage is a lot denser. However, I would not use this product for full face application even if it were my shade as it does crack where the skin does and the SPF gives a really pale complexion. I use this one as concealer for my pimples over my base foundation.
I received this luminiser with a promotional package from Revlon along with an eyeshadow, eyebrow pencil and gel and nail polish. It appears to be tinted a neutral colour but when applied, it is almost translucent with a shine that is only visible in the light. Following the strobing trend, I would apply this underneath a layer of foundation to allow the luminiser to appear as a glow radiating from within my skin. It didn't quite work out that way so now I apply it over my foundation.

I'm not quite sure why but the foundation that I use for concealer appears darker than the one I use for my skin shade. On my face, it would appear the way it should.

I forgot my pressed powder! I usually only use it on my T section and this is the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in 004 Sandstorm. I don't have much to say about it because it does what a pressed powder should do and i bought it because it was only $5 at Priceline. I do recommend this product for anyone who uses makeup, experienced or not. The only problem I have with it is that its main ingredient is talc which I've recently discovered dries out skin and clogs pores. Next time I buy a powder, I aim to buy one with a mineral base such as Natural by Nude powders or e.l.f powders.

CONTOUR + HIGHLIGHTING KIT REVIEW

This item is the reason I decided to begin this blog. There's a lack of people in Australia who blog about pharmacy makeup in my opinion and as a student, I know the feels of a tight budget! Anyway, I bought this contouring kit at Pricline on sale from a regular $17 to $11.80 which is really worth considering that it has 6 pressed powders which would otherwise be around $7 each. Before buying this product, I had read good reviews on it but that some of the darker powders were too muddy. Everyone's skin type and colour varies so I bought my own kit despite the reviews on the contour shades.
The packaging was pretty neat and feels quite sturdy and I've dropped it already and didn't break unlike a lot of my other products. It's definitely smaller than I expected but as mentioned above, is worth the price marked. There are 6 shades inside and I find that all the highlight ones are useful but only one of the contour ones suit me. The left most contour shade was a bit too red, the middle one too cold coloured and yes muddy, the third one was perfect for me as it was in between the other two shades and is not the darkest one, though the packaging says that. The powders are really pigmented and not too loose but loose enough to blend in nicely.
The right most highlight is slightly sparkly and I used it as a luminiser. It provides a good sheen to the face that is slightly purple tinted and gives a really posh looking glow. The yellowy and pinky powders are not too light but they provide a light base for the luminiser powder. They are also ideal for concealer touch ups. Yellows cancel out red tones that I have a lot of due to my rawer pimples and the pink cancels out any brown scars.
I didn't do any swatches to show you because the lighter colours just wouldn't show up on my arm which would defeat the purpose of a picture trying to show you what it looked like.

Pros and Cons

I have listed most of them above but the pros would be
-affordable
-highlight shades, especially the luminiser
-packaging
-instructions on the back!
-powder pigmentation was good

Cons
- muddy contour colours
- easy colour contamination, the powders are very close together
-talc based. dries skin and clogs pores\

Would I buy this product again? Recommend it?

I would definitely recommend this for someone starting out makeup, although contouring should be done when you're more experienced. It's decent quality and I'm satisfied with it because it does what it says- contour and highlight. As for the colours that I can't use for contouring, I could always use it as an eyeshadow or something; they're versatile brown colours so it's perfect! If I don't find a product better than this one of value then yes I will be buying this again!

Don't mind the hair, I'll fix it up this week but here's the full face of makeup an hour after applying it! You can see some of my acne but without the makeup, oh boy, it's not a sight you'd want to see. You can't see the contour on my cheeks well but you can see it slightly on my forehead and the luminiser on my chin and cheekbones.
